In June of this year, we joined the MV Discovery on their cruise "Fjords, Fire & Ice". This took us to Norway, Shetland Isles,Iceland and The Faroes.

Our on board accommodation was a Junior Suite which was very comfortable and especially liked the little touches such as canapes before dinner, fresh fruit daily etc. The Cabin Steward was very attentive. Looking at other grades of cabins, apart from those in the 'bowels' of the ship, these looked equally comfortable.

The Discovery, as a ship, was small and personal and all the accommodation was tastefully decorated. There was plenty to do whilst at sea, i.e. indoor golf, lap walking on the upper deck, painting, bridge, to name but a few. Evening entertainment and lectures were of a very high standard. When in port there was a great selection of tours to do, many of which we went on.

The food in all the restaurants was delicious with plenty of choice for all culinary tastes.

All the crew were very polite and courteous which, along with all the above mentioned comments, made the holiday one of the best we have ever had.

We would thoroughly recommend MV Discovery to anyone although the age group catered for was more in keeping with our own ages, i.e. within the 56-65 bracket. However we are sure that younger people woudl be equally impressed!

We went on a Baltic cruise on Discovery recently, and amongst other visits, spent three wonderful days in St Petersburg. It was a fabulous trip with some interesting ports of call, made all the better by the excellent pre tour talks and good choice of places to visit once we were ashore. We are going to Antarctica and South Georgia in two weeks time, I cant wait!

We have sailed in MV Discovery twice, both voyages captained by Mr.Derek Kemp.Greenland last year and Svalbard this year. We fully agree with all the positive comments made about this ship and her crew. A superbly run ship with excellent accomodation, food and entertainment. She is the best cruise ship afloat Mr.& Mrs F S D Brow

We have been on Discovery several times, the longest being 8 weeks from New Zealand to U.K. On each occasion everything about the ship has been superb and anyone, young or old, should have a great time on her. The speciality restaurant is excellent and well worth trying to get as many visits in as you can!!

First review I've seen from Discovery. Thank you for your input. We're going on her next April - Brazil, Carribean, Azores -and it's our first cruise, so I'm very grateful to you for giving us some lowdown

Glad you enjoyed your trip on Discovery. We were on Her in March/April when we were on a South America/Galapogas cruise. The food in the speciality restaurant is wonderful and there is no additional charge. We also did a side trip to Machu Picchu which was excellent.

Nice review! My wife and I are booked on the Discovery to go to Easter Island with an additional trip to Machu Picchu, sailing in February (actually, it's 14 weeks, 2 days and 12 hours away, not that I'm counting...!) Information is fairly hard to find, and your review has only increased my anticipation.
